This course will introduce you to the techniques needed to sculpt the figure or portrait from a life model. You will work with three models over the twelve week course, each model will be in a sustained pose for four weeks. Working with terracotta clay, you will learn how to use measuring tools and through this you will develop an understanding of proportion and modelling from the figure.
You will be introduced to different modelling tools in order to develop your own style and you will also learn how to prepare the sculpture for the kiln should you wish to fire the completed work. Firing is done at an additional cost.
If you have your own tools please bring them with you but make sure they are marked with your name or some form of permanent personal identification.
All levels of ability are welcome.
‘Excellent tuition, Rob clearly really enjoys teaching. The more traditional measurement techniques were covered at an early stage then classes were flexibly tailored to the individual encouraging the development of your own style. Would highly recommend.’ K.P.
