Diploma in Sculpture
A two year full time course in contemporary figurative sculpture.
The Heatherleys Diploma in Sculpture offers a balance between traditional skills and techniques. Learn how to apply these skills to your personal creative practice.
We believe that study based on observation and expression of aspects of the human form can offer a rich source of inspiration, discipline and understanding.
Develop your personal visual language through the exploration of different techniques in modelling, carving and construction. Generate a portfolio of work in ceramics, wood and stone carving, metal work and more.
We encourage a conceptual approach to help you discover what your work is about.
The two year Diploma Course (72 weeks) takes place on three days a week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) over six terms of 12 weeks each.
Please complete the full time application form online. You will then be contacted to arrange a suitable date and time for interview.
Applicants will be asked to bring a portfolio of recent work. As well as examples of three dimensional work, there should also be evidence of drawing ability and an awareness of contemporary art and design. Whilst completion of an art foundation course is desirable, a sustained commitment to non-vocational classes and courses would also be regarded as acceptable experience.
Successful applicants will receive confirmation via email. To accept your place you must confirm in writing and pay the deposit of 10% of the first year’s fees.
Please contact the bursar for information regarding bursaries.
Assessment and Tuition
There are two assessment stages during the course with the award of the Heatherley Diploma in Sculpture on the basis of a satisfactory final assessment at the end of the second year.
