Under the tutorship of Tony Mott & George Levantis, in the cocoon of Heatherleys Life-drawing studio, these six artists and friends met on Fridays and eventually formed a group and named themselves “The Accidentals”
Several workshops in the south of France starting in 2014 lead to much collaborative work and a lifelong artistic bond of friendship.
When Coronavirus struck in 2020 and lockdown
was imposed, The Accidentals hatched a plan whereby they would challenge each other to a weekly project and meet at a designated time ‘on line’ to show and critique work they had produced on the chosen subject.In a very democratic way, each person in turn would choose a topic and sometimes a successful inspiration was repeated several times.
This continued every week from March 27, 2020 to May 26, 2022.
The group tackled over 100 subjects, worked in all sorts of styles and used whatever materials were available.
