Contemporary Portraiture

Tutor: Sarah Jane Moon | Wednesdays 6:30pm–9pm | 12 weeks

This 12-week evening course is designed for those who want to explore portrait painting in oils. You will learn essential techniques such as colour mixing with a limited palette, paint handling and working from observation, while also developing your own style and approach.

The course encourages experimentation with the expressive potential of oil paint, helping you to visually describe character, mood and presence in your portraits. Working from long poses with a model, you’ll have the time and guidance to create your own unique works, while building confidence and developing your skills in a supportive studio environment.
