NEW: Experimental Printmaking- Solar Plate Etching & Screenprinting

Tutors: Joletta Thorburn
Thursdays 10am-4pm | 6 weeks

Explore the exciting possibilities of combining traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques in this playful and experimental six-week course.

Focusing on solar plate etching (photopolymer) and screenprinting, participants will explore a variety of image-making processes, including hand-drawn tonal stencils on True Grain, photographic imagery, layering, texture and embossing.

Through demonstrations, guided experimentation and hands-on studio practice, you will discover how these versatile techniques can be used independently or combined to create rich, layered prints with depth, tone and texture.

The course encourages an adventurous approach to printmaking, with opportunities to experiment with colour, composition, transparency and the interplay between different printing processes. Participants will be supported in developing their own ideas and exploring new ways of translating imagery into print.

Suitable for beginners and experienced printmakers alike, this course offers an opportunity to learn new skills, deepen your understanding of printmaking and extend your artistic practice in a relaxed, supportive and creative environment.

Whether you’re looking to develop an existing body of work or simply enjoy experimenting with new techniques, this workshop will encourage curiosity, creative exploration and unexpected discoveries.
