About Toby Wiggins

Toby’s practice is informed by his 1990s art schooling, including that at the Royal Academy Schools in 1999. This teaching valued painting, drawing and life drawing as essential for visual understanding. His work is couched in the ‘Modern British’ tradition.

Through his teaching, Toby aims to pass on some of the principles he has learned. Including those from such notable artists as Norman Blamey R.A., Leonard McCoomb R.A. and Saied Dai RP NEAC.

Toby has exhibited widely and been selected numerous times for various prizes. These include: the Royal Academy Summer Show, BP Portrait Award in 2006, Holborne Portrait Prize, Discerning Eye, Prince of Wales Drawing Award, Jerwood Drawing Prize, Painter-Stainer’s Prize for figurative painting and the New English Art Club.
