Description

Contemporary Figurative Painting

This is a project based advanced painting course designed to help students find ways into making ambitious paintings that rely on creative use of reference material.

You will look at contemporary artists working today to interrogate their processes, as well as think through narrative aspects and themes in your own work.

The course centres around two main projects: a narrative self portrait and a multi-figure painting. Using both photographic reference and observational studies with a model you will begin to find ways to construct a painting from disparate sources and to solve problems pictorially.

This course requires some research, writing and presenting.
