Congratulations to Portrait Diploma student, Rebecca Asghar, who has had her self portrait selected for the Ruth Borchard Competition 2019.
She says
‘I am very happy to have been selected for the Biennial Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Competition, a curated four month exhibition. This painting previously won the Mr Heatherley prize in November 2018, so it has been very lucky for me. The private view for the exhibition will be on Thursday 23 May at Piano Nobile Kings Place, from 6.30 to 8pm.
This exhibition celebrates British and Irish self portraiture and is unique in that it is unlimited as to size of works or medium. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to compete for a £10,000 prize and for work to be purchased for the Ruth Borchard next generation collection. The winner will be announced on 23 May. For me, I am just very happy and grateful to have reached this stage, as the quality of works are superb. It will be well worth visiting.
