Straws of Sickert – A Talk by Michael Ajerman
Event Overview
Walter Sickert is an artist whose work is a bridge between English and French painting in the rapidly changing world of the late 1800’s leading well into the 20th Century. Drawing from the well springs of his mentors James Whistler and Edgar Degas in his formative years, his work is a constant tension between fast and slow. As a young man who worked in the theater, his painting never lost the notion of theatricality. Nor his life.
Straws of Sickert will shine a light on this Heatherleys alumni by presenting his formative years, the Camden Town Nudes series, and his unique late work derived from photographic sources.
