Course Description Courses are offered for beginners and those who have limited experience of this medium, and aim to provide the student with a good grounding in the use of oil paint. Students are introduced to colour phenomena and colour effects, cold and warm colours, colour contrast and colour harmony, light and shade, the plastic use of colour, colour composition, impasto, glazing, tonal painting, alla prima painting, painting in layers and retouching. It is intended that students should feel confident about using the methods and materials of oil painting and how they can be used as a vehicle for self-expression.
