30th September | 12.30pm-1.30pm
Free
Dr. Hester R. Westley will discuss the teaching of life drawing in British art schools from the mid-twentieth century. With reference to her recent display at Tate Britain 'Reception, Rupture and Return', Dr. Westley will explore the historical and cultural challenges to life room practices in the wake of the educational reforms of the 1960s. The lecture contains audio extracts drawn from the ‘Artists’ Lives’ archive, National Life Stories.

Dr Westley is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Tate Gallery.
